Maules Creek
Maules Creek is located approx 60 kilometres South East of Narrabri and takes about 1 hours drive with the surface being sealed the whole way. It is 26 kilometres North east of Baan Baa and 35 kilometres North East of Boggabri, taking approx 45 minutes.
Maules Creek is situated at the foothills of the Mt Kaputar National Park and is truly amazing countryside. The landscape is rugged and enchanting and the soil is a deep rich black in some areas. The area has some very productive land and in fact some of the country's leading cattle studs are located in the region. As water flows from the mountains, it trickles through Melaleuca lined creeks and the water is as clear as crystal. There are also beautiful locations along the river which provide unique and captivating hideaways to have a picnic, or just enjoy the presence of nature. Viewing the Nandewar ranges from the Maules Creek area shows them from a perspective that is astounding.
Their size and grandeur is truly amazing. To the South of Maules Creek is Leard Forest. This forest is predominantly pine, iron bark and hardy gum trees as well as an enormous coal seam just a few metres under the ground. This coal is said to be of the highest quality and is as yet, untapped. Maules Creek has a primary school, (called Fairfax Public School) tennis court, and a community hall. Maules Creek does not have a lot of facilities in the village itself but this is due to the fact that Narrabri and Boggabri are both very accessible. The Maules Creek district has a tremendous community spirit and has many community groups, which make it a very social area. For more information on Maules Creek please see the following sites.
