The village of Edgeroi
Edgeroi lies just 26 Kilometres north of Narrabri on the Newell Highway, (taking a little more than 15 mins by car) and is 90 kilometres south of Moree (52 minutes). Agriculture is the major industry of the district and the village serves as a community centre for the local farmers as well as the railway grain silo. Edgeroi is a small village with a lot of charm. It was one of the largest soldier settler blocks in New South wales to be divided up after the Second World War. Many families from the original soldier settlers still remain on their family properties today.
Edgeroi farmers grow wheat, dryland summer crops, cotton and graze cattle and sheep. The surrounding country is flat, rich black soil framed by the magnificent Nandewar Ranges and is some of the best farming land in the region. Edgeroi has a Fuel Shop with shady Picnic area. The "Fuel Shop" also sells snacks, Take Away food, some general store items, and liquor. Edgeroi also has a rubbish tip.
