Public comment called for 2018/2019 Draft Operational Plan
Narrabri Shire residents are set to benefit from over $37 million in capital works set out in the 2018/2019 Draft Operational Plan.
The 2018/2019 Draft Operational Plan was endorsed by Council at Tuesday’s Extraordinary Council meeting to be placed on public exhibition. This document outlines all of Council’s actions over the coming financial year to deliver on the community vision developed through the 10 year Community Strategic Plan.
The Plan is now on public exhibition allowing the community to review the content and make submissions.
“The Operational Plan is an essential component of Council’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework,” explained Acting General Manager Lindsay Mason. “The actions developed are led by the community and legislative requirements and encompass a quadruple bottom line approach.”
“This is the second year of Council’s 4-year Delivery Program which will see the continuation of a number of major projects.”
“Roads infrastructure will be major focus over the coming year with a capital works spend including over $14 million on major road and bridge works, $4.1 million on the Narrabri Water Augmentation Project, over $1 million making improvements to parks, gardens, playgrounds and sporting ovals and a major upgrade to Boggabri Caravan Park.”
“These are just some of the major projects Council will be embarking on over the coming financial year.”
“As well as Capital Works projects, Council will be delivering on a number of actions to achieve strategic objectives that link directly to the 10 year Community Strategic Plan. These include investigation into Recreation, Tourism and Entertainment precincts in the Narrabri Creek area, investigation into the establishment of a Narrabri Shire Youth Council, development of a new Crime Prevention Strategy and continued promotion of Narrabri Shire as a Regional Logistics Hub.”
“I encourage residents to take a look at the document and let us know if they have any feedback throughout the public exhibition period,” concluded Mr Mason.
The 2018/2019 Draft Operational Plan is available on Council’s website on the Public Exhibition and Notifications Page, at Council’s Administration Building or at Council’s Libraries. Written submissions should be addressed to the General Manager, PO Box 261 Narrabri NSW 2390 or sent by email to email@example.com. Submissions close at 5pm Friday 1 June 2018.
