Australia Day Programs

Narrabri Shire Council invites nominations for the 2013 Australia Day Awards in the following categories;

• Citizen of the Year - (Over 26 years of age on 26 January 2013)
• Young Citizen of the Year – (Under 26 years of age on 26 January 2013)
• Young Citizen of the Year –Primary (Primary School Age)
• Young Citizen of the Year –Secondary (Secondary School Age)
• Australia Day Award
• Community Event of the Year

Nominations should be on the form provided by Council and abide by the guidelines and selection criteria set for the awards.

These forms can be obtained at Council’s Administration Building, 46-48 Maitland Street, Narrabri, by calling the Council’s Community Development Officer on 6799 6887 or can be downloaded below.

Nomination forms must be submitted to Council prior to 5:00pm Friday, 23rd November, 2012. NOMINATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

The recipients of awards will be decided at the December Council Meeting on 18th December 2012 and the Awards will be presented to the successful candidates during the Australia Day Celebrations on 26th January, 2013.

Celebrate Australia Day on 26 January!

On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian.

Narrabri Celebrations

 Australia Day Celebrations will take place on the Lawns of The Crossing Theatre

Breakfast will be provided by the Narrabri Lions Club from 7am

Australia Day Ceremony will commence from 8am with:

  • Australia Day Ambassador - Mr Digby Moran
  • Flag Raising by the 1st Narrabri West Scouts Group
  • Performances by the Narrari Shire Band
  • Australia Day Awards winners will be announced
  • Shop window dressing competition and colouring competition winners will be announced
  • Kids activities will be run by the NDCAS
  • Jumping Castle and show bag give away
  • Namoi Valley Antique Car Club car display and duck race
  • Family Fun day at the Narrabri Town Pool with free entry and monster island

Wee Waa Celebrations

 Australia Day Celebrations will take place at the Namoi Echo Museum from 11am to 3pm with:

  • Official ceremony commencing at 12noon
  • Visit from Australia Day Ambassador Mr Digby Moran
  • Poetry by Mr Max Pringle
  • Jumping Castle and show bag give aways for the kids
  • Free guided tours of the Museum
  • Free BBQ
  • The Wee Waa pool will be holding a Family Fun Day with Free Entry and Monster Island

Boggabri Celebrations

Australia Day Celebrations will take place at the Boggabri Town Pool from 3pm.
