Australia Day Programs

Celebrate Australia Day on 26 January! Celebrations are being held in the towns of Boggabri, Wee Waa and Narrabri.

On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian.

Narrabri Celebrations

In 2014, Australia Day Celebrations will take place at the Narrabri Aquatic Centre

• Free entry until 8:30am
• Breakfast provided by Narrabri Lions Club from 7am
• The Official Australia Day Ceremony will commence at 8am with:
o Welcome to Country
o Flag Raising by 1st Narrabri West Scouts Group
o Performance from Narrabri Shire Band and singing of National Anthem
o Address by Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Emma Rossi
o Australia Day Awards winners announced
o Shire Snapshot Photography Competition winners announced
o Colouring In Competition Winners announced

Other activities include:
o Monster Island
o Novelty swimming races
o Face painting
o Dress Up Competition
o Temporary tattoos
o Sandcastle making
o Emergency Services display
o Namoi Valley Antique Car Club car display and duck race

Annual Mayoral Cricket Match from 6pm at Collins Park under lights

Wee Waa Celebrations

Celebrations commence at 11.00am at the Namoi Echo Museum, Rose Street:


WELCOME: Mrs. Shirley Pankhurst
MC: Apologies: Flag Raising and National Anthem: Introduction of Narrabri Shire Mayor Mr Conrad Bolton
MAYOR CONRAD BOLTON: Introduction of Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Emma Rossi
LUNCH: BBQ and cool drinks available to all in attendance.

Boggabri Celebrations

The following is the program for the Boggabri Australia Day function at the Boggabri Pool

• 9am Free sausage sizzle by the Lions Club of Boggabri.
• 10am Australia Day Ceremony with a presentation about the meaning of Australia day, speeches by the local School Captains and the Awards Presentations to the Boggabri Australian of the Year and Young Australian of the Year by the Lions Club of Boggabri.
• 10.30 am Swimming Club Activities including Dash for Cash, Novelty Events, Iron Man, Iron Women and Monster Island.
