Tourism in Narrabri Shire

If you like variety in a holiday, then Narrabri Shire is sure to have what you’re looking for. Our Shire covers 13,000 km, and is the heart of the rich Namoi Valley in North West NSW. It is renowned for the production of some of the world’s highest quality wheat, cotton, fat lambs and beef. The presence of several research facilities in the Shire bears testimony to this. All this is joined by a wealth of excellent tourist attractions for the visitor to enjoy.

Tourism within Narrabri Shire is huge. The Newell and Kamilaroi highways run through the Shire bringing people from all compass points. Our Shire proudly offers major attractions to our local tourists, overseas visitors and many businesses. Our facilities, accommodation, and easy access are drawing many conferences and high profile performers to the area.

The clarity of the air has encouraged the scientific growth of the Australia Telescope Compact Array of radio telescopes, commonly known as ‘the big woks’. The natural wonder of the Nandewar Ranges and Mt Kaputar National Park will keep even the most reluctant of bushwalkers enthralled.

Add farm holidays, historical museums, Yarrie Lake, artesian bore baths, art shows or visiting cultural productions to this mix and you’re guaranteed many fun filled days in Narrabri Shire. The Crossing Theatre, showing the latest release movies, modern shops and a warm welcome also await, promising unforgettable memories of your visit.

The Narrabri Shire Visitor Information Centre is here to help you and is a storehouse of historical and local books of interest.
