This bustling town is the largest in the Shire and the focal point for business, shopping, sports and entertainment. Narrabri is a scenic beauty with the Namoi River flowing through the town centre and residents enjoying spectacular views of the Nandewar Ranges. Narrabri is set amongst the most fertile agricultural land in the North-West Slopes and Plains.
Narrabri is the transport hub on the crossroads of the busy Newell and Kamilaroi Highways, connected to the world through excellent freight services to major cities and ports by rail, road and air. An existing substantial inland port supports local distribution, transportation and logistics industries.
The bustling main street caters for all tastes. City visitors are pleasantly surprised to see the large range of luxury and fashion items available in Narrabri’s boutiques. Major national retailers share bright and breezy Maitland Street with family owned stores and tempting eateries.
Rumoured to be the “café central” of the North-West, the popular eateries in Narrabri’s Maitland Street strive to please the ever growing group of “latté sippers” in town. The main street offers a selection of dining options from cafés, restaurants, pubs, clubs and take-away shops.
With brand new Coles and Woolworths supermarkets, access to a wide variety of groceries is simple. Bakeries and butcher shops feature locally grown produce and monthly riverside markets showcase fresh fruit and vegetables and anything else you can think of!
A new hospital for Narrabri has been planned by the State Government and will be completed in 2011. This new development will make Narrabri Hospital the main medical service centre for Narrabri Shire as well as further afield.
Narrabri is a friendly and safe town with a low crime rate making it an ideal location to raise a family. The community spirit is infectious and new residents will soon see themselves involved in a wide variety of activities meeting lots of new people.
