Your Sporting Life...

Is Rugby Union your sport? Then why not train on the same turf that Wallaby Chris Latham learnt the game? Perhaps you prefer tennis? Then have a round of doubles where Jason Stoltenberg hit out in his younger days.

All towns in Narrabri Shire boast competitive sporting teams and many sporting greats can contribute their training to this area. The ideal climate and wide open spaces provide perfect conditions and venues for all manner of physical activity. The facilities in the towns are of a high standard and are the envy of our neighbouring Shires.

In the Summer months the town pools come to life and make a great place for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors on a hot day. All pools have excellent shade facilities and are used for school swimming carnivals, swimming club training,  pool parties and general recreation.

On any weekend you will find the residents of Narrabri Shire enthusiastically involved in sports of all kinds across the numerous ovals and courts scattered throughout the towns. There are four golf courses, four bowling clubs, and a number of tennis courts and cricket pitches for local residents to compete against each other or their neighbouring towns. All codes of football are played and Narrabri Shire’s teams enjoy continued successes in these codes.

Equestrian activities are very popular with Narrabri hosting the largest pony club in the Southern Hemisphere and Boggabri and Wee Waa enjoy high attendance numbers at their yearly pony camps. Dressage, campdrafting, rodeos, showjumping and hacking are popular past-times for horse lovers whether it be for enjoyment or at a competitive level. Narrabri and the scenic locality of Wean hold yearly picnic race days giving everyone a chance to dress up and enjoy the social occasion.
