Mining in Narrabri Shire
Narrabri Shire currently has open cut coal mining and natural gas extraction operations within the Shire.
Coal mining operations are within the Gunnedah Coal basin near the towns of Boggabri and Baan Baa.
There are three coal mining companies operating and these are Whitehaven Coal, Idemitsu Boggabri Coal Pty Ltd and Roche mining.
Eastern Star Gas is also located in the Pilliga Region to the west of Narrabri.
