EXPECTED DURATION OF INTERRUPTION - 1 DAY

The Program is aimed at a sustainable and safe way to undertake the cleaning of water pipes and to ensure that sediment is removed from the inside of pressurised water mains in low lying areas and/or water pipes at the end of the line where sediment build-up is prevalent.

Once the works have been completed, water service will be restored.

What to do prior to planned water service disruptions:

  • Fill your kettle or jug in the morning prior to 8:30am on the day.
  • Place a full bucket of water near your toilet to assist with flushing during the day.
  • Fill your bathtub or sink with water so that it can be accessed during the day if required. NOTE: never leave a tub of water unattended if you have small  children or pets in your home.
  • Fill your pet’s bowls with water in the morning prior to 8:30am, when the water supply is generally turned off for outages.
  • Do not use appliances that require water to operate during the outage. Running without water may damage them. Appliances that typically require water to operate include air conditioners, dishwashers and washing machines.
  • Check and close all indoor and outdoor taps.

What to do once the water supply has been turned back on:

  • Run an external tap until the water runs clear. If discoloured water is detected, run your tap for few minutes until the water clears.
  • Remember to run the tap slowly to avoid causing damage with the sudden rush of air that can come out of your pipes after an outage.
  • Do not wash clothes until you have checked water quality.

Council regrets any inconvenience caused by this work.
