Accessibility at The Crossing Theatre

We believe that entertainment and community experiences are for everyone to participate in and enjoy. The facility offers independent access for people with limited mobility, people living with disabilities, those with dietary restrictions and visitors of all ages and abilities.

Carpark and External Toilet Facilities

The large, sealed car park has multiple designated disability parking spaces and oversized parking options, with a gentle gradient and kerb ramps to make access to The Crossing Theatre easier for those with limited mobility or using specialised mobility aids.

After-hours lighting provides security and independent use after exiting The Crossing Theatre.

There are public toilets in the adjacent park, with a combination of unisex, female, and male facilities, with left/right-hand transfer, wheelchair, and ambulant access.  It is open 24 hours.

The main entrance of The Crossing Theatre features a convenient looped drop-off point designed for taxis, buses, community transport and private vehicles.  This loop allows for safe disembarkation for youth, the elderly, and patrons with limited mobility or who live with a disability.

While the building does have steps, accessibility is prioritised with signage and visual and tactile contrast along the footpaths.  The access ramp features an inclined gradient, continuous handrails, and automatic doors for hands-free entry/exit.

Cinema Accessibility

The open foyer aids easy movement with mobility aids within the venue, and the ticket office signage is recognisable to visually impaired people.

Cinema One seats 142, while Cinema Two seats 66 people.  In both cinemas, the wide pathways mean everyone can enter/exit together.

The cinema seating plan offers a dedicated mobility vehicle/wheelchair/pram area with nearby seating for friends/carers in the front stalls, closest to the screen.

Cinema One has six areas dedicated to mobility equipment or pram.  It also has two premium wide-seat VIP chairs. with reclining footrests.

Hearing loops are installed for improved audio clarity.

Toilet Facilities

The Crossing Theatre offers multiple stalls in dedicated male and female toilet facilities. The standalone accessible gender-neutral toilet houses the baby change table.

Food, Beverage and Licensing

The Crossing Theatre’s food and beverage caters to a wide range of tastes and dietary requirements, offering options for vegetarians, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal-friendly choices.

The venue is fully licenced for you to enjoy a selection of zero-alcohol and alcoholic beverages in the café, cinemas and event spaces.

Assistance Pets

The Crossing Theatre welcomes assistance animals as part of its commitment to accessibility and inclusive experiences.

Overlooking the Narrabri Creek grasslands and pathway, the venue provides a convenient outdoor environment where assistance animals can take breaks.  Several waste disposal bins are in the area to support responsible cleanup.

After a walk, guests and their pets can relax on the verandah and enjoy refreshments from the café. Dog water bowls are placed along the verandah to keep pets hydrated.
