Donation in Lieu of Ordinary Rates

Narrabri Shire Council considers financial assistance through the donation of Ordinary Rates to local services, cultural, sporting, charitable or non-profit organisations with rateable property within Narrabri Local Government Area. 

Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) permits Council to give financial assistance to entities for the purpose of exercising its functions.

Applications Open First day of April in the financial year before the donation is sought to be made.
Applications Close First day of May in the financial year before the donation is sought to be made.

The Donation in Lieu of Ordinary Rates is administered under the Community Assistance Policy(PDF, 214KB) , adopted at the October 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting, outlines Council's policy position on the provision of grants.
