Narrabri Shire Council takes proactive strides in promoting community development and growth by extending a diverse range of funding initiatives.

These initiatives have been thoughtfully crafted to provide substantial support to businesses, community groups, and organisations, enabling them to play an active role in fostering positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes for the Shire and its residents.

Narrabri Shire Council has the following programs through which funding can be secured:

Business Grant Opportunities

The Economic Development section of Narrabri Shire Council supports existing business and new industry with a range of information.

The Grant Guru Funding Finder initiative offers businesses free access to a grant database to help take the guesswork out of searching for grants, rebates, concessions, awards, scholarships, and financial assistance packages.

Community Financial Assistance Grants

Narrabri Shire Council’s Community Financial Assistance Grant supports the delivery of projects and activities that pursue our values of a connected, unique, and culturally rich community.  The Community Financial Assistance Grant aims to support and empower local clubs and not-for-profit community organisations to deliver activities, programs, and events that contribute to the economic, infrastructure, social connections, and vibrancy of Narrabri Shire.

Concessional Use of The Crossing Theatre

Narrabri Shire Council is committed to ensuring The Crossing Theatre is available for all groups to use. “The Crossing Theatre Concessional Use Policy” was adopted to provide financial assistance to eligible groups and events held at The Crossing Theatre.

Donation in Lieu of Ordinary Rates

Narrabri Shire Council considers financial assistance through the donation of Ordinary Rates to local services, cultural, sporting, charitable or non-profit organisations with rateable property within Narrabri Local Government Area. 

Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) permits Council to give financial assistance to entities for the purpose of exercising its functions.

Applications will open on the first day of April in the financial year before the donation is sought to be made.

Environmental Grant Program

The aim of the Environmental Grant Program is to facilitate projects that enhance the environment, protect the environment, or provide a sustainable environmental solution.

The Environmental Grant Program is derived from contributions made by Maules Creek Coal, Boggabri Coal and Tarrawonga Coal Mines under Voluntary Planning Agreements.

The program is administered by the Leards Forest Precinct Environmental Trust Inc and consists of representatives from the above mines, community and Gunnedah and Narrabri Shire Council.

Grant Guru Funding Finder

There are thousands of grant opportunities worth billions of dollars of available funding from Federal, State and Local Government, plus grants from corporate and philanthropic organisations and they are all accessible via the Narrabri Grant Guru funding finder.

Narrabri Shire Council is committed to supporting community groups, organisations and businesses to grow and thrive, and offers practical support to gain financial assistance from external sources.

The Grant Guru Funding Finder initiative offers anyone in the Shire free access to a grant database to help take the guesswork out of searching for grants and help groups and businesses pursue rebates, concessions, awards, scholarships, and financial assistance packages.

Grant Writing Courses

Narrabri Shire Council offers grant writing courses for individuals, clubs, organisations, and businesses seeking to attain funding by applying for grants.

Different opportunities become available throughout the year including online courses, face-to-face workshops through The Exchange Narrabri and Microsoft Teams.
