About CREATE

CREATE Festival is Narrabri Shire’s annual celebration of arts, creativity and community. Since launching in 2021, the festival has continued to grow each year, providing opportunities for local artists, schools, community groups and residents to connect through creative experiences and cultural expression.

Featuring workshops, exhibitions, public art activities and community events, CREATE encourages participation from people of all ages and backgrounds while showcasing the unique talent and stories of our region.

CREATE 2026 – Water

CREATE 2026 will run from 2 October to 18 October 2026, with this year’s theme, “Water”, inspiring the festival program across the Shire.

From artistic interpretations of rivers, rain and rural landscapes to stories of connection, sustainability and life in regional communities, the theme invites creatives and participants to explore the many ways water shapes our environment, culture and identity.

Planning is already underway for a vibrant program of workshops, exhibitions, installations and community activities, with more details to be announced throughout the year.

Cultural Sensitivity in Artwork Submissions
  • CREATE celebrates diversity and inclusivity, and we eagerly await your submissions. When exploring cultural themes, please approach them thoughtfully and respectfully.
  • Art can bridge communities, but it can also create stereotypes if not handled carefully.
  • To honour the cultures you represent, please consider seeking feedback from our CREATE team and community members.
  • If any artwork raises concerns about these standards, the curator reserves the right to decline its entry into the exhibition.
