October 1 is the official start to the Bushfire season. Council encourages all residents in Narrabri Shire to prepare a Bushfire Survival Plan.
Ask yourself these questions:
Do you live within a few streets of the bush?
Does your area have a history of bush fires?
Do you have many trees or shrubs around your home?
If you need to leave your home, would you need to travel through bushland?
Is your Bush Fire Survival Plan more than one year old?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need a Bush Fire Survival Plan. Don't put it off.
To help you to prepare your property prior to the bush fire season, including application forms to conduct a hazard reduction burn and other information which will help residents in their preparation, see Bushfire Planning in the Planning and Development section of this website.
