Parking Rules

The following are reminders to residents. Parking Inspectors periodically inspect parking in Narrabri Shire and will fine residents for not complying with the law.

When a wheelchair logo appears on a parking sign this means that only vehicles displaying a valid Mobility Parking Scheme Authority issued by the Roads and Maritime Services are allowed to park in that parking space.

Drivers must abide by the time limit on the signs whether it is 15 minutes or 2 hours. Legislation states that you must not park on the length of road, or in the area, continuously for longer than the time limit shown. Tyres are marked with chalk by the parking inspector which will not rub off unless you have travelled for a reasonable distance and have left the parking zone, therefore you can not move two carparks away and not expect to be caught.

In Narrabri there are two off-street carparks which do not have time limits and are free for the public to use if you are planning on being longer than two hours in town.

These are situated on the corner of Doyle and Barwon Streets and off Tibbereena Street behind the Visitor Information Centre. Both carparks are a very short walk to Maitland Street.

With the main shopping areas of Narrabri taking up no more than 4 blocks, with a bit of patience you will always find a carpark a short walk from your destination. It is important to respect your fellow shoppers and vacate car parks before the allocated time.

Carparks in Boggabri and Wee Waa have no time limits but residents are asked to be thoughtful of others who may need to park in the main street.
