Waste
Ongoing volumes of waste at transfer stations are increasing due to commercial volumes, not residential. These stations are designed to take residential volumes of waste only.
Plant breakdown
The end of last week was disrupted due to plant breakdown (truck) on Thursday. The truck was back on deck on 7 October, with staff tidying up the Wee Waa Transfer Station and Boggabri Transfer Station and endeavouring to get around to all transfer stations over the next week.
Contamination of recyclables with general waste is increasing as is contamination of other stockpiles.
Thank you to all staff for their continued work in trying to keep all transfer stations and the Narrabri Waste Facility presentable to Shire residents.
Baan Baa Transfer Station - asbestos dumping
Asbestos was dumped at Baan Baa Transfer Station, which was cleaned up by waste personnel (as the total was under 10m2) on Saturday, 27 September. This was the second time during the month that asbestos dumping occurred at this transfer station. Many thanks to all our staff in acting quickly to clean the area, which was dealt with very efficiently.
