Narrabri Shire Council is set to receive more than $3.92 million under the NSW Government’s Regional and Local Roads Repair Program (RLRRP).

Funding was based on the length (in km) of Regional and Local road network submitted in Council's application. Of the 2343km that make up the Shire’s road network, 2155km was deemed eligible in Council’s RLRRP application.

Speaking on the recent funding, Narrabri Shire Mayor Ron Campbell said the money would go a long way in restoring the Shire’s roads after the continued flood and adverse weather.

“We’ve noted it on a number of occasions now, but the cost of damages to the Shire’s road network is significant,” said Cr Campbell.

“This $3.92 million from the RLRRP will allow Council to continue addressing priority repairs and delivering improved journeys for our road users”.

The RLRRP is a $500 million program funded by the NSW Government to support councils in undertaking urgent repairs to their road network, which has been significantly impacted by severe flooding, storm damage and persistent wet weather.
