Ten community groups have been awarded funding through this year's Community Financial Assistance Grant Program to support a range of projects, from equipment upgrades to annual events.

The program helps community groups bring local ideas to life, improve community facilities and deliver activities and events that benefit people across the Narrabri Shire.

The successful recipients were recognised at a ceremony in the Council Chambers, where representatives joined Council for the official signing of their funding agreements.

A total of $14,500 was distributed across the ten successful applicants:

  • ArtsNational Narrabri –$1,000 to support brochure printing and promotional advertising.

Mayor Tiemens said Council’s Community Financial Assistance Grant Program was an important way of supporting the people and organisations working to make a difference in their local communities.

“Our community organisations put an incredible amount of time, energy and passion into making their communities better places to live. While that work can bring its challenges, it also brings enormous reward.”

“We don’t always take the time to celebrate what we achieve as a community, so it’s wonderful to recognise these groups and the projects they are bringing to life. Council is proud to support initiatives that mean so much to our local communities.”

Council encourages other community groups with projects or ideas that could benefit their local community to keep an eye out for future rounds of the Community Financial Assistance Grant Program.
