Roads
  • The tender for tree removal as part of the Rangari Road upgrade closed 9 June 2026. The tender for the project's Bayley Park Creek Causeway construction and associated works is open until 11.00am Tuesday, 14 July 2026. Works are expected to get underway in August 2026.

Violet Street Bridge replacement project

Following the completion of foundation piling works, pier piles are being cut down to the design level, with steelwork for pile caps underway.

The old bridge piers, which were used to support the temporary pile guide frames, will be demolished in mid-July.

The bridge’s next milestone will include the construction of the pile caps, blade piers and the abutment at the Selina Street end of the bridge. This is expected to take around six weeks.

Construction of the headstocks and placement of the girders will then take place.

Waste

  • Synergy is progressing with Cells 2 and 3 with the start of installing the liners (see image below).
  • Mattress and tyre cages are fully stacked and awaiting pickup by contractor.
  • Boggabri, Baan Baa, Maules Creek and Edgeroi Transfer Stations have been cleaned and stockpiles pushed up.
  • Sediment Dam number one has been pumped to keep levels down to avoid any overflows in the event of more rain.
  • Ongoing maintenance around Narrabri Waste Management Facility with edging, spraying and roadworks following wet weather.
  • FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) pick up by contractor.
  • Repairs to the automatic gate at Wee Waa Transfer Station will take place from Monday, 13 July following an incident of vandalism leaving the gate unable to be closed.
  • 2026/2027 fees for the disposal of waste at the Narrabri Waste Management Facility came into effect on 1 July 2026 (as per the adopted 2026/2027 Operational Plan at the June Ordinary Council Meeting). Water/Sewer

  • Interflow Pty Ltd continues carrying out essential maintenance to sewer mains in Narrabri North. Works include CCTV inspections and high-pressure water jetting. 
  • The license application for conversion of the bore to a water supply production bore is under assessment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). An assessment is anticipated in the next couple of weeks.
  • Tender documents for the PFAS treatment plant are being reviewed, looking at the proposal to treat Killarny Bore.
  • The tender for the relining of sewer main in Narrabri with a potential start in August.
  • The design and installation of overhead high voltage electricity to the Saleyards Lane bore site is pending.
  • Daily monitoring of bore operations and reservoir levels to ensure the water supply is sustainable and secure.
  • Routine treated water testing at the Namoi Street reservoirs, with all results indicating the Narrabri drinking water supply meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
  • Results for Shire-wide PFAS testing has been completed, showing all other towns outside Narrabri are compliant. See the results.
  • Daily monitoring of the reservoir levels, which show that water supply is stable.
  • Water meter replacements are continuing in Narrabri and Wee Waa.
