Water/Sewer

Balonne Street water main renewal works

Works on the installation of a new water main along Balonne Street (from Doyle Street to Bowen Street) are continuing, with works on the new main between Dewhurst to Bowen streets in progress.

The new main installation had been completed and changeover of water services are being finalised along with final restoration works.

Narrabri North sewer main works

Interflow Pty Ltd is carrying out essential maintenance to sewer mains in Narrabri North from 18 May until 9 July. Works will include CCTV inspections and high-pressure water jetting.

Residents directly affected by the works will have received a letter from Council.

Council is aiming to keep disruptions to a minimum, however while works are underway, residents may notice:

  • An increase in noise
  • More vehicle movements
  • A few odours

We thank residents for your patience while these important works take place.

Narrabri bore investigation project

A license application for conversion of the bore to a water supply production bore is under assessment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

The new bore will provide Narrabri with an additional 63 litres per second of water.

PFAS treatment plant

Tender documents for the PFAS treatment plant for pre-selected tenderers has been completed and are expected to be issued shortly.

The portable treatment plant will allow Council to bring the Tibbereena Street and Killarney Street bores back online, ensuring that water from these sources can be safely treated before entering the network.

Other

  • Tenders for the relining of sewer main in Narrabri have been assessed and a report for Council for consideration to award the tender is being prepared.
  • A Request for Quotation to design and install overhead high voltage electricity to the Saleyards Lane bore site has been prepared.
  • Daily monitoring of bore operations and reservoir levels is continuing to ensure the water supply is sustainable and secure.
  • Routine treated water testing at the Namoi Street reservoirs continues to be undertaken, with all results indicating the Narrabri drinking water supply meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
  • There is also daily monitoring of the reservoir levels, which show that water supply is stable.
  • The water meter renewal program is continuing in Narrabri and Wee Waa.
