Roads
  • Council's gravel resheeting program is continuing, with works on Westport Road currently underway.
  • Rehabilitation works have been completed on Yarrie Lake Road. Linemarking on Culgoora Road was delayed due to wet weather.
  • Works are nearing completion on the Harparary Road upgrade between Browns Lane and Harparary Bridge, with sealing works completed and signage works and site tidy up in progress.
  • Piling works are continuing on foundations for the new Violet Street bridge. Driving for Pier 2 piles is in progress, which will be followed by Pier 1 and Abutment A piling works. Abutment B and Pier 3 piles are in place. More information about the Violet Street Bridge replacement can be found on the project’s website
  • The tender for tree removal as part of the Rangari Road upgrade is currently being advertised. The project’s funding deed has also been finalised and signed, with works to get underway in August. The project, which is being funded through the NSW Government’s Rural and Regional Roads Fund, will see the remaining 10 kilometres of unsealed road sealed for the first time.

  • Incidents of illegal dumping of tyres occurred at Wee Waa and Baan Baa transfer stations, as well as illegal dumping of concrete at Baan Baa and Boggabri transfer stations and plastic at the Boggabri Transfer Station. 
  • General waste clean up at Shire transfer stations.
  • Clearing and tidy up of the Community Recycling Centre. 
  • Works are progressing on the construction of new cells 2 and 3 at the Narrabri Waste Management Facility, with aggregate being installed over the geotextile. (see images below)
  •  Clean-up of metal stockpiles at all transfer stations has been completed.

Airport

  • 4,300 litres of Jet A-1 sold.
  • Military training of Super Hercules - 9 touch 'n' goes using NVG (Night Vision Goggles). Council attend to ensure navigation lights were suspended.
  • Link Air and Fly Pelican delayed on 18 May due to weather conditions.
  • Refuelling Monday night and Tuesday morning required ‘holding’ and ‘alternate’ fuel due to weather conditions at destinations.

Parks and Open Spaces

Narrabri West team

  • Mowing and snipping lawn cemetery.
  • Plinths and plaques.
  • Tree works around town.
  • Tidy up of roundabouts as well as irrigation repairs.

Town team

  • Garden works from Maitland Street to Tibbereena Street.
  • Completed tidying at the old cemetery.
  • Mowing and snipping of open areas. 

Sports recreation team

  • Connecting of water to the new Tourist Hub.
  • Spraying of lake path.
  • Placing of concrete blocks behind Hogan Oval.
  • Irrigation repairs at Gately Field.
  • Maintenance at Dangar Park netball courts.
  • Mowing of Cooma Oval and Gately Field.
  • Spraying of field surrounds.
  • Filling of hole along the path behind the caravan park.
  • Watering of Pirate Park.
  • Manual watering of Dangar Park practice field.

Wee Waa
  • Cleaning of CBD.

  • Emptying of bins.

Boggabri

  • Mowing of open spaces.
  • Set up for Boggabri Coal Open Day at Jubilee Oval.
  • Works at recreational parks.

Water/Sewer

  • Works on the installation of a new water main along Balonne Street (from Doyle Street to Bowen Street) are continuing, with works on the new main between Dewhurst to Bowen streets in progress. The new main between Doyle and Dewhurst streets has been installed, with water service changeovers pending. 
  • Interflow Pty Ltd is continuing to carry out essential maintenance to sewer mains in Narrabri North until 9 July. Works include CCTV inspections and high-pressure water jetting. 
  • The license application for conversion of the bore to a water supply production bore is under assessment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). 
  • Tender documents for the PFAS treatment plant for pre-selected tenderers has been completed and expected to be issued shortly.
  • Tenders for the relining of sewer main in Narrabri are currently under assessment. 
  • Request for quotation to design and install overhead high voltage electricity to the Saleyards Lane bore site has been prepared.
  • Daily monitoring of bore operations and reservoir levels to ensure the water supply is sustainable and secure.
  • Routine treated water testing at the Namoi Street reservoirs, with all results indicating the Narrabri drinking water supply meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
  • Daily monitoring of the reservoir levels, which show that water supply is stable.
