Parks and Gardens

Narrabri

  • Various sporting facilities in Narrabri have been affected due to the recent wet weather. The status of sporting facilities across the Shire is available from Council’s website
  • Drainage work at Dangar Park netball courts has been completed, along with repairs to the practice field at the facility.
  • Capital work at Gately Field amenities has taken place.
  • Repairing of sewerage issues at the Town Clock toilets (due to pumps blockage), toilets have been closed while this is taking place.
  • Cutting back of garden plants at the Town Clock toilets has been completed.
  • Open areas behind the ovals have been sprayed for broad leaf weeds.
  • Minor irrigation repairs and general weekly maintenance continues to take place.

Wee Waa

  • Clearing lanes in the township of rubbish and tree limbs.
  • Mowing at the top and bottom of the Wee Waa levee bank.
  • Trimming under trees around Wee Waa township and parks has taken place in preparation for mowing.
  • Weeding of gardens in the main street as well as parks.
  • New row signs are being installed at the cemetery.
  • Contractor mowing has been taking place at Gwabegar.

Boggabri

  • Anzac and Vickery Park toilets have been cleaned every day.
  • Town bin collection has been taking place twice per week. Rubbish has also been collected at truck stops twice per week.
  • Mowing has taken place at the Gunnedah end of the highway as well as the batters of Cox’s Creek Bridge.
  • The Caravan Park has been sprayed for broad leaf weeds.
  • Headstone plaques have been placed at Boggabri Cemetery.
  • Inspection of Baan Baa Park and open spaces.
 

Waste

  • Staff have been busy at Narrabri Landfill slashing, spraying and tidying up the boundaries around the landfill. 
  • BMR Quarries have commenced works on crushing and screening the concrete stockpile. The area is barricaded off to the general public while these works are underway.
  • Boggabri, Maules Creek, Baan Baa and Edgeroi Transfer Stations have been tidied up and are in extremely good condition. It is a credit to the current staff on shift who have achieved these works. 

Roads

Kerb and gutter replacement works

Backfill has been completed along Nandewar Street as well as a short section on Selina Street, with sealing to take place this week.

Harparary Road upgrade

Sealing of 3km has been completed, with the next 2km section scheduled for this week - weather permitting.

Tullamullen Bridge upgrade 

Works on the approaches are continuing. Traffic has been switched to the new alignment. The recent rain has caused a delay around drainage works.

Lake Circuit upgrade

The road is now open, with the project having reached completion. The contractor has demobilised from the site, with minor cleanup to follow.

Gravel sheeting program

Completed on MR329 Cypress Way, with Middle Route Road (4km) to follow.

Maintenance

  • Heavy patching on the Kamilaroi Highway near Boggabri has re-commenced. 
  • Maintenace grading is taking place on a number of roads, which has been impacted by weather delays. 
  • General sign works and pothole repairs are continuing. 
  • Maintenance grading (impacted by weather delays) on Cypress Way, Old Narrabri Road, Edenvale Road, Trevena Lane and Pine Creek Road.

Road closures

  • Braymont Road has been closed due to the recent wet weather.
  • The following unsealed roads remain closed:
  • Camerons Lane
  • Poison Gate Road
  • Ten Mile Lane
  • Pine Creek Road

Water

  • Water main renewals in Deran Lane, Narrabri and Grantham Street, Boggabri are continuing.
  • The construction of the bulk water filling station in Wee Waa is underway.
  • Sewer main rehabilitation work in Narrabri is ongoing. 
  • Sewer maintenance works in Narrabri are continuing. 
  • The water meter replacement program in Wee Waa and Narrabri is underway. 
  • The team have begun raising buried meters in Narrabri. 

PFAS

  • Continued sampling and testing of Narrabri water supply continues to ensure compliance with the new Australian drinking water standards. Testing results are available from Council's website
  • Hydrology and bore testing in Narrabri are continuing.
