Parks and Gardens

Narrabri

  • Mowing/snipping and spraying of Bellata cemetery and sporting field, as well as Eulah creek cemetery.
  • Fallen branches removed from recreational park areas.
  • Damaged lawn area repaired at Narrabri Aquatic Centre.
  • Mowing of open areas for Saturday markets as well as at Dangar Park.
  • Snipping of trees along Mooloobar Street.
  • Fencing removed from Narrabri town clock toilets.
  • Mowing/snipping of lawn cemetery.

Wee Waa

  • Mowing at Wee Waa Levee bank.
  • Cleaning of Main Street.
  • Emptying of bins.
  • Cleaning of toilets.
  • Whipper snipping at parks.

Pilliga

  • Cleaning of bore baths and emptying bins.
  • Spraying of weeds.

Gwabegar

  • Emptying of bins.
  • Spraying of weeds.

Boggabri

  • Toilets continue to be cleaned daily at Anzac and Vickery Park.
  • Town bin collection continuing twice per week.
  • Rubbish removal at truck stops occurring twice per week, mowing has also taken place at truck stops.
  • Mowing at Baan Baa Park and general spraying of parks.
  • Mowing around Welcome to Narrabri Shire sign.

Waste

  • Concrete crushing has commenced again.
  • Staff have continued to be busy keeping the Landfill clean and tidy. We have also had some visitors (pelicans) in our sediment dam near the weighbridge.
  • Our aim is to continue to make improvements at the Landfill as well as cleaning transfer stations around the Shire. Volumes of waste at these transfer stations is on the increase with commercial or contractors using these facilities, which is for residential volumes only. Commerical and contractor waste should be taken to the Narrabri Landfill.

Roads

Kerb and gutter replacement works

  • Backfill has been completed on Nandewar Street and a short section on Selina Street. Scheduled sealing has been delayed due to weather.

Harparary Road upgrade

  • 3km sealed. Further sealing of around 2km was scheduled, however has been delayed due to weather.

Tullamullen Bridge upgrade

  • Continued works on the approaches has been delayed due to weather.

Gravel sheeting program

  • Has been completed on MR329 Cypress way. SR47 Middle Route (4km) has been delayed due to weather.

Maintenance

  • General sign works and pothole repairs.

Road closures

Water

Narrabri

  • Deran Lane water main renewal is continuing.
  • Buried water meters are being raised.
  • 1.2km of sewer main relining between Namoi River and Narrabri Creek is continuing.

Boggabri

  • 550m water main renewal in Grantham Street Boggabri is continuing.

Wee Waa

  • Project planning for the replacement of Mitchell Street water main between Cormie Avenue and George Street.

Headworks

  • Replacement of water meters in Wee Waa and Narrabri is continuing
  • Sampling of town water across the local government area for biological testing.
  • Repair to chlorinator at Gwabegar.

PFAS

Sample results for 24 July show Namoi Reservoir with 1ng/L detection of PFAS well under the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines of 8ng/L
