NSW asked to reduce energy usage.

As a result of heatwave conditions across NSW, it is forecasted that the reserve of electricity supply will be under pressure.

As a result, the Minister for Climate Change and Energy has asked all NSW households and businesses to take action to reduce their energy usage to maintain a reliable electricity supply.

Energy efficiency tips:

Keep heat out by closing doors, windows, blinds and curtains.
Use fans and try to limit the use of air conditioners.
Adjust air conditioners to 24 degrees or warmer.
Keep fridges at five degrees and try to limit the number of times you open the door.
Switch off lights and appliances.

When to do it:

Businesses and households have been asked to reduce electricity use from 5.00pm to 9.00pm tonight to avoid blackouts.
