Important Notice: Wee Waa Transfer Station Re-opened

Wee Waa Transfer Station is now open! Council apologises for the delay and any inconvenience caused, and we thank the community for their patience while the site was assessed and cleared. A big shout-out to our waste team for managing the situation efficiently and safely.
 
A reminder to residents: Council has strict conditions for the acceptance of asbestos. It is essential the community follow directions before and during disposal to avoid asbestos exposure to themselves, staff and others. 

 

Please note that asbestos waste is only accepted at Narrabri Lanfill, and by appointment only. 

It is illegal to dump asbestos at any of our Shire's Transfer Stations. 

Conditions of entry and disposal: 

To dispose of asbestos waste at Narrabri Landfill, the following conditions must be met: 

  • Pre-Booking for disposal made prior to arrival 
  • Asbestos waste must be presented for disposal in the required format
  • On arrival at the facility, you must follow the directions provided by staff

The following is not permitted: 

  • Delivery of asbestos which is unwrapped or otherwise improperly presented. 
  • Unloading asbestos in an unsafe manner
  • Not following the directions of staff
  • Disposal of asbestos hidden in waste steams including green waste and building demolition waste. 

How to book in asbestos waste for disposal: 

Asbestos waste is accepted by appointment only.

  • Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm
  • Not on weekends or public holidays
  • To make a booking, please phone (02) 6799 6730 or 0427 101 125 at least 48 hours prior to disposal. 
  • You will need to supply your name, address, phone number, date of disposal, type of asbestos waste (Friable or Non-Friable) and approximately how much asbestos waste you have. 

Council recommends calling a licenced asbestos removalist for large amounts of asbestos or if you're unsure how to safely dispose it.
