Parks and Open Spaces

Narrabri (Open Spaces)

  • Plinths and plaques have been placed at Narrabri Lawn Cemetery.
  • Vegetation control at Old Narrabri Cemetery.
  • Slashing along RSL leash-free area.
  • Hedging and garden works on Selina Street.
  • Garden works along Tibbereena Street.
  • Landscaping around the amenities at The Crossing Theatre including tree replacements and mulching of garden beds. 

Sports Fields team

  • Mowing/snipping of all sporting fields.
  • Cleaned up graffiti at the Maitland Street toilets
  • Minor repairs to public amenities.
  • Mowing of parks open space areas - Narrabri Lake
  • Tree inspections.

Wee Waa

  • Cleaning of public toilets and litter daily.
  • Vegetation control along Wee Waa streets.
  • Daily cleaning of Wee Waa CBD.
  • Watering of CBD gardens.

Pilliga

  • Cleaning of toilets twice per week.
  • Emptying of bins twice per week.
  • Vegetation control at Pilliga Park.

Pilliga Bore baths

  • Cleaning of bore baths' toilets and grounds.
  • Cleaning of bore baths' pool.
  • General maintenance

Gwabegar

  • Emptying of bins and litter work at Anzac Park.

Boggabri

  • Cleaning of public toilets daily.
  • Town bins and truck stop bins emptied twice weekly.
  • Vegetation control and irrigation work at Boggabri Pool.
  • Open space mowing of streets in Southern area.
  • General maintenance of gardens and irrigation at recreational parks.

Roads

  • Works have been completed on Maules Creek Road, Wave Hill Road and Upper Maules Creek Road.
  • Gravel re-sheeting program has been completed on Byalla Lane, Forest Way, Stumpy Lane, Gwabegar Road and Cains Crossing.
  • The Harparary Road upgrade is continuing with 5km now completed.
  • New pram ramps have been installed in Wee Waa.
  • Works to widen the road under the big bridge have now been completed.
  • Maintenance roadside slashing is ongoing in western areas.

Water/Sewer

  • Registrations for the private bore water screening program close at noon, Friday, 21 November.
  • Laidlaw Street, Boggabri Water Main Renewal has commenced.
  • Bore investigation and water quality assessment at Logans Lane and Saleyards test bores.
  • Bore pump test and water quality assessment at Saleyards test bores
  • Pump replacement and augmentation of wiring infrastructure at Namoi Reservoir.
  • Chlorination servicing of all bore sites and Namoi Reservoir.
  • Water reservoir cleaning operational project for Mooloolabar and Purcell streets.
  • Sewer main access cover replacement along Narrabri Creek - Narrabri.
  • Narrabri Sewer Pump station infiltration study implementation.
  • Sewer condition assessment and mains cleaning in West Narrabri.
  • The tender for sewer main relining will be going to market shortly.

Waste

  • Narrabri Waste Facility Expansion Development Application Public Notice is being advertised (see Council's website). The tender for the project is currently being advertised and preparation work underway.
  • The Mandalay Software (waste weigh-in software) upgrade is in progress.
  • GPS guided software has been purchased for the compactor and bulldozer, improving compaction rate consistency.
  • Sorting and transporting of scrap steel offsite.
  • Repairs have commenced on the fencing around the waste facility that has been damaged over the years.
  • Scrap metal cleanup has started and will progress over the next month.
  • Roadworks have commenced around the entire Waste Facility for access to the current cell for contractors.
  • Transfer stations have been tidied up; however, contamination of recyclables is a problem. Wee Waa Transfer Station is the main concern as designated signs are not being followed, with general waste is being dumped in these bins. 

Assets and Engineering

  • Pre-tender contractor meetings were held for the Tourism Hub Project tenders: Play Equipment, Shelters and Furniture, Landscaping and Concrete works.
  • Revision of the Cleaning Services Assessment period.
  • Narrabri Waste Management Facility Cells 2 & 3 Tender package has been finalised and is being advertised.
  • Water main renewal, including location mapping.

Narrabri Airport

  • Refuelling works
  • CASA Compliance contractor has been on site reviewing operational compliance plan.

Facilities and Logistics

  • Training is ongoing at the airport for serviceability and re-fuelling.
  • The slab at the Wee Waa Pool has been completed for bunded tank installation.
  • Signage for library staff at Wee Waa has been installed.
  • Repairs to the band room are nearing completion.
  • Air conditioning electrical works at the Boggabri Courthouse have been completed.
  • A major water leak at the Boggabri Depot has been repaired.
  • Panels at The Crossing Theatre have been installed.
  • Emergency drain works at the animal shelter.
    Passenger vehicle serviced.
  • Five 4wd vehicles serviced.
  • Truck and mower serviced.
  • 16 reactive maintenance/breakdowns.
